"God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives. God is in the cries heard under the rubble of war. God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them."

ALS

So, this past Saturday morning our church volunteered to help out with the ALS walk at the Arvest Ballpark. There were about 10 or 11 of us that were there ready to help. We helped with set up, registered people, handed out t-shirts, smiled. It was so much fun! It was great to see so many people there giving and walking for the cause. There were church youth groups, high school football and baseball teams, families, corporate companies, mothers with strollers...all coming together.

It is so great to be part of a church that truly cares about those in the community and cares about genuinely helping...no gimmick...no "here's our bulletin, come to our church...oh and by the way enjoy the walk." So many churches now have ulterior motives...it's all about advertising the church and getting more members. I am so overjoyed that God has led my husband and I to our current church. It is truly a place to serve others with no strings attached...nothing to advertise but Jesus' love. We now tell people about our church because we are so excited about it. We are so excited that this church is BEING the CHURCH...each person helping out for the cause of Christ. It's not about the four walls. It's about Jesus and People.

I am looking forward to serving Him more. Here's to one step closer to Everyday Missionary.
